The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The celebrated industry figure passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a motorway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, according to.
